When My Name Was Keoko

This book is about a girl named Sun-hee and her brother, Tae-yul. The book takes the reader in to 1940s. It was in Korea during the occupation of Japanese. They went through many events in school and also had family problems. Tae-yul volunteers for Japanese military for his family and his country, while Sun-hee and his family wait for him with hope. Later Korea is released from Japan because the Japanese Emperor surrenders. This book is from Korean's perspective so there aren't any thoughts from Japanese point of view.
