I think people can understand the meaning in different ways, but i think that this phrase means that they may keep you from what you are going to do, but they can never stop you from thinking.

I think that the hardest time of the secret annex would be eating the amount that really wouldn't fill your stomach. Also being with total stranger and sharing a room with he or she who has a bad temper and a selfish person , i think that would stress me alot.

I think they show typical teenage attitudes toward their families. Peter gets embarrassed by how his mother talks to him. Anne only shows love toward her father because she doesn't like her as much as she loves her father. Every time Mrs. Frank talks, she compares with ?Margot and Anne.

During the Hanukkah a burglar went it to the building of where the Secret Annex is at. They kept quiet until Peter's cat Mouschi came out of Peter's room. So when Peter tried to stop his cat, he made a loud noise, because of that the burglar got out of the building. According to Dussel the burglar might get caught, so when he gets caught the burglar might tell the Police about some jews hiding in the hiding place.

Anne turned mature then before. Her gifts to her mom was a good idea, it showed Mrs. Frank that Anne cared for her, as well as to Peter.
