2. Are there are any current situations in the world that relate to the novel? What are they, and how do they relate? Does the novel shed any light on how current situations could be resolved or "fixed"?

I guess these days including me, teenagers wants to live independently or make our own choices for ourselves. But with less experience and knowledg than the adults, we tend to make wrong choices for ourselves. This problem can be solved with big effort and understanding what the main problem could be.

I agree with what you said about teenagers and how we always want to be independent from our parents. It's kind of similar to the Animal Farm, where the animals want things their way, not what is good for the farm. :)
